Dr Justin Sherwin is an Ophthalmologist who is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He manages glaucoma using medical, laser and surgical approaches including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). In addition, he is extensively trained in cataract and pterygium surgery, managing macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and treating general ophthalmology problems.
Dr Sherwin operates locally at Masada Private Hospital.
Justin attended Monash University medical school graduating with honours (MBBS (Hons)) and completed an intercalated honours year in glaucoma research (BMedSc (Hons)). He also holds a Master of Philosophy in Epidemiology (MPhil) and Master of Surgery (MChir) from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Dr Sherwin worked as a junior doctor at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
His ophthalmology training was based at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne. Subspecialty fellowship training in glaucoma and cataract surgery was undertaken in Oxford at the Oxford Eye Hospital, John Radcliffe Hospital, UK.
He has been awarded numerous prestigious awards, scholarships, and research grants. From his research, he has over 50 peer-reviewed publications and has presented at many national and international conferences. He also regularly reviews for several leading ophthalmology journals.
Dr Sherwin holds public hospital appointments at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. He also holds a research appointment at the Centre for Eye Research Australia.
Dr Sherwin is married with two young sons and enjoys playing tennis.
