Dr Laurence Sullivan
Cataract / Laser Vision Correction / Corneal Diseases & Surgery
Dr Laurie Sullivan is a fellowship-trained Corneal Specialist. He specialises in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the front of the eye, including small incision refractive Cataract Surgery, Corneal diseases (including Keratoconus Transplantation Surgery, and Laser Vision Correction).
His public hospital teaching appointment is to the Corneal Clinic at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, where he is involved in training Ophthalmology registrars and fellows. Laurie has been a Clinical Associate at the University Of Melbourne Department Of Ophthalmology and the Centre for Eye Research Australia since 1994.
Laurie is an Examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He lectures at the University of Melbourne Department of Optometry and Visual Science. He has lectured internationally. Laurie is involved in major research projects at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and has authored numerous scientific papers and book chapters.
Laurie has worked overseas volunteering his time for third-world eye camps with the Hollows Foundation in Nepal, and also in Fiji. He conducted the first-ever Ophthalmology fellowship examinations for Cambodia in 2009 and continues to both teach and examine in Cambodia. He is involved in teaching and also volunteers his time teaching in Vietnam, He is a founding member of the RANZCO International Development Committee.
Laurie is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is a Director of Lasersight Victoria. He founded Bayside Eye Specialists in 2005.
