Dr. Justin Sherwin is a highly-trained Ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract and lens-based refractive surgery. He manages glaucoma through medical, laser, and surgical approaches, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and also welcomes referrals for macular degeneration (including intravitreal injections) and general ophthalmology conditions.
Dr. Sherwin graduated medical school with honours from Monash University and completed an intercalated Honours year in eye research. He holds several additional postgraduate qualifications including a Master of Philosophy in Epidemiology, Master of Surgery and PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK.
His ophthalmology training took place at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, followed by subspecialty fellowship training in cataract and glaucoma surgery in Oxford, UK. More recently, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Sherwin has received numerous prestigious awards, scholarships, and research grants. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers and is regularly an invited speaker at national and international conferences. Additionally, he is an active reviewer for several leading ophthalmology journals.
Currently, Dr. Sherwin is a Board Member of the Australian Society of Ophthalmologists and Cambridge Australia Scholarships. Additionally, he holds a public hospital appointment at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and is Director of Peninsula Eye Centre, Mornington.
